World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is such an incredible way to share the beauty, talents and abilities of people with Down Syndrome with the world. All of Windsor-Essex is invited to learn about Down Syndrome and Rock their Socks with us! For 2020 Up About Down has three fun ways to do it!

1. Rock Your Socks at Work or School – We’re encouraging places that will be closed on Saturday to Rock Their Socks on Friday and share their photos with us so we can post on Saturday! Attached you’ll find a fun informational package. If you’d like, please feel free to share this with any companies, schools or groups that can help us spread Awareness about WDSD ! If you prefer a hard copy of the participation package, please let us know and we’ll coordinate a way to get it out to you. Email us the photos or tag Up About Down on Facebook so we can share it with everyone!

2. Rock Your Socks at Sweet Revenge Bakeshop – Sweet Revenge, the sweetest bakery in Windsor, will be generously donating $1.00 from every special WDSD cupcake to Up About Down! They will be sharing more information about the cupcakes and how to pre-order on their Facebook page, Instagram and in store (5410 Wyandotte E Windsor, ON N8S 1L9) closer to WDSD. Stay tuned for more details in March.

3. Rock Your Socks at our Dance-a-Thon – We are so excited to celebrate this special day together with a Dance-a-thon! A pledge form, poster and information will be shared with you through your group leader. Please RSVP by March 13, 2020.

March is such a special month for us as we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21 and we can’t wait to get our whole community involved in the fun and awareness. We’re looking forward to a great day!

T-21 Project, August 14, 2021 – CANCELLED @ Jackson Park
Aug 14 @ 10:00 am – 4:30 pm

The Photoshoot has been cancelled.

Hi Families,

UAD has been offered a wonderful opportunity to partner with Nikki Vos this summer, for photoshoots and more.

She is a first year photography student at Lambton College. She currently runs a small hobby photography business that focuses on providing affordable, quality photos to all families and individuals.

This summer, Nikki is hoping to work on a two part personal photography story project, The T-21 Project, ‘21. She wrote, “As someone who has been blessed with a family member with Down syndrome, the goal of the project is to highlight and share the stories of Ontario families who have also been blessed with a family member with Down syndrome. This project will provide families with an affordable way to represent their individuality and uniqueness.”

From Nikki:
“The first part of the project will include family or individual mini photoshoots, as well as a questionnaire form prior to the shoot. Part of the proceeds from the photoshoot will be donated back to your association. The second part will include putting together a photo story book that shares a variety of stories and photos from the families who have participated in the photoshoots. Families will be given the option to have their stories included, if desired, and UAD the WEDSA will be given the opportunity to use the books as a fundraiser.”

“I absolutely love Jackson Park, and think it would be perfect for this project! I’ve created an advertisement poster with the link for participant signup:

If you have any questions, please contact me.”

Thank you,

Nikki
