Magical Christmas Party 2019

published 25 Nov 2019 by upaboutdown in Latest News category with 0 comments

After friendly and welcoming volunteers checked us in, we walked into a stunning Christmas Party room of white tablecloths with turquoise and silver ornaments in turquoise wreath centerpieces alternating with red tablecloths with red and gold ornaments in red wreath centerpieces. Thank you to Karen’s Crew; Karen Pickle, Andrew Banar, Jeffrey Meaghan, Amanda, Brittany who helped Sheena make these stunning centerpieces!

In the back corner on a long table, volunteers with Reindeer antlers helped with cookie decorating and a craft for members to take home.

The dance floor was filled with happy dancers plus our Hip hop instructor Taya who all danced the afternoon away.

Our Grace before our meal was beautifully given by Emily Roger. The Ciociaro Club chicken meal as well as the service was wonderful!

Then bells were heard and Santa arrived in his red suit greeted with hugs and excitement! Presents, hugs and pictures followed.

The biggest ‘Thank you’ goes to our Christmas Coordinators, Sheena and Ryan Lane for a smoothly run Magical 2019 Christmas Party. And to all of YOU for making and sharing in the Magic!

T-21 Project, August 14, 2021 @ Jackson Park
Aug 14 @ 10:00 am – 4:30 pm

Hi Families,

UAD has been offered a wonderful opportunity to partner with Nikki Vos this summer, for photoshoots and more.

She is a first year photography student at Lambton College. She currently runs a small hobby photography business that focuses on providing affordable, quality photos to all families and individuals.

This summer, Nikki is hoping to work on a two part personal photography story project, The T-21 Project, ‘21. She wrote, “As someone who has been blessed with a family member with Down syndrome, the goal of the project is to highlight and share the stories of Ontario families who have also been blessed with a family member with Down syndrome. This project will provide families with an affordable way to represent their individuality and uniqueness.”

From Nikki:
“The first part of the project will include family or individual mini photoshoots, as well as a questionnaire form prior to the shoot. Part of the proceeds from the photoshoot will be donated back to your association. The second part will include putting together a photo story book that shares a variety of stories and photos from the families who have participated in the photoshoots. Families will be given the option to have their stories included, if desired, and UAD the WEDSA will be given the opportunity to use the books as a fundraiser.”

“I absolutely love Jackson Park, and think it would be perfect for this project! I’ve created an advertisement poster with the link for participant signup:

If you have any questions, please contact me.”

Thank you,
