Awesome thanks to the team behind the Party. Remily, who purchased food, table supplies and set up our Culinary Food Delights with Aimee who manned the kitchen; Celesta, for her  idea of adding Pumpkin Painting to the venue, purchasing stickers and welcoming guests at the door, plus keeping track of our numbers and age groups; Sarah who brought in the pumpkins, a lovely gift from her Boss; Tina, who brought and set up the pumpkins, paint, stickers, supplies and examples of painted pumpkins; Jody and her Disability Studies students for their set up and take down help, coloured lights, fantastic music, and all their shared energy and dancing moves; Alex, Aimee and Andrew for set up and take down help and all the assistance from members too!! Finally, thanks to Melissa and her team at the John McGivney Children’s Centre.

The Pumpkin Painting and Stickers was an outstanding success and we loved having the younger families join in.  Check out the finished pumpkins.and your picture on our website and Facebook too.

As you can see from all the pics taken on our Facebook page and website, the costumes were impressive. New members were very welcomed and we had over 75 people in attendance.  A very FUN and MEMORABLE night was had by All.

As our board plans for this years events, keep checking our website www.upaboutdown.org under Calendar Events for member and age group activities.

*See you at our Bowling Party this Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Super Bowl at 12:30 pm. A reminder to let your group leader know how many in your family are attending.

Rock Your Socks Awareness Campaign for World Down Syndrome Day
Mar 21 all-day

March is such a special month for us as we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21! This year we are looking to get our whole community involved in the fun and awareness and the Board has been working hard to reach out to various organizations in our community.

All of Windsor-Essex is invited to learn about Down Syndrome and Rock their Socks with us! If you would like to help us share the message, we have attached a fun informational package. If you’d like, please feel free to share this with any companies, schools or groups that can help us spread Awareness about World Down Syndrome Day! We would love to see the whole community Rocking their Socks!

Full details are in the attached participation package and will be shared on social media too. If you prefer a hard copy of the participation package, please let us know and we’ll coordinate a way to get it out to you. Upon request we will also be providing groups with a poster to include in their photos as they rock their socks!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to respond to Celesta at info@upaboutdown.org and remember to share your pics!

World Down Syndrome Day Awareness at Kingsville Public School @ Kingsville Public School
Mar 21 all-day

Tommy and Soham’s school, Kingsville Public School, has put up a display case for Down Syndrome Awareness. The t-shirts are for sale for $15 each on the school cash online site. Kingsville Public School is asking for the students to purchase a shirt and wear it on March 21 in support of World Down Syndrome Day. They are hoping to make a profit from selling the shirts to then donate to Up About Down.

The boys teacher and DSW in their room have embraced World Down Syndrome Day and thought of making and selling shirts on their own, very touching!
