Virtual SEAC Public and Catholic School Parent Information Meeting
Feb 7 @ 7:00 pm

UAD’s new SEAC reps are offering an exciting and easy way to chat with you about your concerns and thoughts with your school experiences and hopefully help you feel more comfortable reaching out to them.

Joanna Conrad and Cindy Nantais would like to invite you to a virtual SEAC Public and Catholic School Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 7:00 pm.

We are both new UAD representatives on our respective school board Special Education Advisory Committee. We would love to learn more about your experiences and answer any questions to better advocate on the committee.

Please email Cindy at cynthia.nantais@gmail.com to receive the Zoom link

We hope to see you there!

ABOUT SEAC

A SEAC Committee must be established by every school board to give input and advice on special education and make recommendations on anything that impacts the establishment, development and delivery of special education programs and services. The committee includes elected school board trustees and representatives from local interested associations, like Up About Down.

The primary roles of a SEAC representative are:

  • To be well informed about the work of SEAC, the expectations set out for SEAC by legislation and the school board’s Special Education Plan;
  • To act as a systemic advocate;
  • To ensure that all exceptional students within the board are served appropriately;
  • To ensure that the school board fulfills its legal obligations relating to the delivery of special education programs and services and to reporting to the MET;
  • To represent effectively the organization by whom he/she was nominated to the SEAC and the exceptional children served by that association;
  • To participate in other school board activities including the delivery of professional development training and systemic advocacy activities.
