On MARCH 21, 2015 DSSA will be hosting a 5K walk at Assumption Park-RiverSide to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!!!
World Down Syndrome Day has been officially recognized by the United Nations since 2012.On this day, people all around the world celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome, creating a global voice, advocating for the rights, inclusion and well-being of people with Down syndrome.
The date of 21/3 represents the three copies of chromosome 21 that are unique to people with Down syndrome. CRAZY socks are worn to attract questions and attention as well as add an extra sock to represent the extra chromosome that causes Down Syndrome
When: March 21, 2015 at 11:00 sharp for registration!
Where: Assumption Park -Riverside 80% of the proceeds will go to Up about Down- Windsor- Essex Down Syndrome Association
Ticket Prices:18 +- $15.00- with a STUDENT card – $10.00
Children (6-17) – $5.00
Children 5 and under are FREE
There will be food, music, and ALOT of crazy socks…yes that’s right Crazy SocksSo get ready to ROCK YOUR SOCKS!!!
